My Yiddish Swing
03:06
|

My Yiddish swing
Hot as anything
It’s the rhythm that is burning up the town
It’s a smoker
My Yiddish swing
Cooler than ice-cream
It’s a tasty treat that’s travelling around
And it’s kosher
You will dance, you will shout
Everybody’s jumpin’ off their chairs and sofas
Take a taste, try it out
Brew it up
Stew it up
Chew it up
Jew it up
Now you have seen
That Yiddish thing
Och it’s wilder than a Highland fling
My Yiddish swing

She's My Girl

She-she-she-she-she-she is my baby
Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo what a girl!
I-I-I-I-I-I am so crazy
Cos she’s my baby she’s my girl
Swee-swee-swee-swee-swee-swee-sweet as honey
Lov-lov-lov-lov-lovely like a pearl
Ev-ev-ev-ev-every day is sunny
Cos she’s my honey she’s my girl
Bridge
She says I’m smarter than Homer Simpson
Oh yes she does, oh yes she does
She says I’m sexy like Bill Clinton
I’m so in love
I’m so in love
She-she-she-she-she-she is my baby
Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-what a girl!
I-I-I-I-I-I am so crazy
Cos she’s my baby she’s my girl
Bridge 2
She says I’m stronger than Schwarzenegger
Oh yes she does, oh yes she does
She says I sing just like Sinatra
I’m so in love
I’m so in love

Hobos
05:34
|
|||
We don't have no villas or bungalows
We don't have no drinks on the patio
We don't have no swank tuxedos
We don't even try
We don't have no fancy logos
We don't have no drinks on the patio
We don't have no shares portfolio
We don't want our fingers in the pie
WE HOBOS WE NOMADS
WE GYPSIES WANDERING JEWS
WE HOBOS
AND ANY PLACE WE HANG OUR HAT WILL DO
We don't order lattes, capuccinos
We don't dine on oysters or escargots
Open up a rare Chateau Margaux
But we ain't gonna cry
We don't have no quadraphonic stereo
We don't have no paintings by Van Gogh
We don't drive no Roller or Peugeot
You can't take it with you when you die
Everyday we incognito
Following wherever our feet go
Noone tells us where we need go
Noone waves goodbye
Far away from neon light glow
Sit and watch the setting sun go
Lie awake and watch the night show
That's playing in the sky

Tchavolo Swing
04:13
|
|||
Moi j’aime trop, j’aime trop, j’aime trop l’gitane
Qu’est-ce qu’i’est beau, qu’i’est beau l’zigane
Quand il joue de la guitare
Il enlève mon cafard
Bravo Tchavo -Tchavo -Tchavo -Tchavo -Tchavolo
I’caresse, caresse, caresse sa g’tare
Avec ses mains brunes et belles
Des mains de romanichel
Tout le monde, toue le monde, tout le monde crie “Bravo”
“Bravo Tchavolo!”
Et sa musique sort du bonheur
Sonne profondément dans mon coeur
Jazz si cool mais avec ardeur
Swing, swing, swing, swing
Moi j’adore, j’adore, j’adore, j’adore l’gitane
Qu’est-ce qu’i’est fort, qu’i’est fort, qu’i’est fort, l’zigane
Quand il joue de la guitare
J’frissonne de haut en bas
Bravo Tchavo -Tchavo -Tchavo -Tchavo -Tchavolo
I’caresse, caresse, caresse sa g’tare
Et ses yeux étincellent
Des yeux de romanichel
Tout le monde, toue le monde, tout le monde crie “Bravo”
“Bravo Tchavolo!”

Once upon a year
In a Roumanian village square
The sound of music was in the air
Jews and gypsies playing without care
Nobody watched television
Let’s all go down there
Let’s all go down there
Dance to the music
Swing to the sound
Circle everybody round and round
Tell all the people all through the town
Just get down, just get down, just get down
Dance with your brother
Give him a push
Go get your sister off her tush
Rich man or peasant
Village idiot or clown
Just get down, just get down, just get down
Let’s have a party
Let’s have a feast
Go get the rabbi and the priest
Klezmers and gypsies don’t muck around
Just get down, just get down, just get down
Moon shining brightly
It’s a natural high
All of Transylvania’s dropping by
Cossacks come riding, they jump to the ground
They just get down, just get down, just get down
Lots of celebrities
All kinds of stars
If you look real good you might just spot the Czar
He’s dancing with the Kaiser
Hanging on to their crowns
Just get down just get down, just get down
Werewolves start howling
Ghosts sing harmonies
Vampires vamp out from the cemetery
Klezmers and gypsies don’t muck around
Just get down, just get down (3x)
Just get down

Here’s a little swing tune
Here’s a little simple melody
It’s a funny-little-thing tune
That just came out of the blue and keeps me company
I sing it in the street and in the shower
I play it to the flowers and I hear it in my dreams
I’s just my funny little swng tune

Matus Radzivilover
05:54
|
|||
1. He was born in Radzivil in Poland where his father dealt in matches
But Papa died in a train crash and so Tante Basya brought up klaine Mateus
He could have gone to med school but his heart was set on something rather risky
And he became apprenticed to he famous cantor Moishe Koussevitsky
2. In 1939 he fled from Warsaw to evade the Nazi order
And with a group of refugees escaped on foot across the Russian border
And in a little Russian town he fell in love with Channa and he married her
And as the fighting threatened to engulf them they took refuge in Siberia
Matus Radzivilover
In his Polish pullover
Matus Radzi-vilo-vilo-vilover
Chazen Radzivilover
Countless blessings to confer
Matus Radzi-vilo-vilo-vilover!
3. And when the war had ended back to Poland with his wife and daughter came
But his family home was ruined and not one of his own relatives remained
They sailed to New York City and he found some work in shtiebelach on the Lower East Side
And living ‘neath a synagogue once saved the torah from a raging fire
4. A second girl was born and he became the cantor of the famous Slonimer Schul
And to the congregation there his singing was a bright and precious jewel
He sang across America in synagogues from L.A to the Catskills
In T’ronto, Buenos Aires, a long, long way from the Polish town of Radzivil
5. And if you went to Matus’ house he’d offer you plum brandy and blue vodka
And after Channa’s tasty food a special treat, the fiery hot Persovka
Then after dinner we’d all get to singing with on top his gorgeous tenor
With Channa singing harmonies, it was a time I always will remember

Mordechai (What A Guy!)
05:02
|
|||
Mordechai was a Benjamite born in old Jerusalem
He fought against the Persians but the Persians were too strong
They wasted the city and when the Persians captured him
Mordechai was carted off to Babylon
He had a niece she was an orphan
So he raised her as his own
He changed her name to Esther
Because he had a dream
One day she would share the thro-o-o-one
Ch.
Mordechai Mordechai what a guy! (4x)
The mighty king of Persia was Ahashverus
He’d divorced his wife and so he needed a new bride
And so they organised a national beauty contest
Girls turned up from far and wide
When Mordechai heard about the contest
He said “Esther, you must do this.
Get an entry form
But when you meet the king
Never ever tell him that you’re Jew-ew-ew-ish”
Now every contestant had one year’s beauty treatment
And one by one they went to see the king
When it was Esther’s turn the king was delighted
She was the sweetest thing he’d ever seen
He made Esther queen of Persia
And Mordechai’s dream came true
She always kept
The promise to her uncle
Nobody knew she was a Jew-ew-ew-ew

The Jews Brothers Band Auckland, New Zealand
Twenty years ago, inspired by a klezmer tune playing on an Auckland café’s stereo, Hershal Herscher picked up his accordion
and started playing the music his grandfather Harry had brought to New York from the Ukraine.
The rhythm he was pumping out acted like a magnet on three musician friends who were in the caf that day. From that nucleus The Jews Brothers Band was born.
